Berrien County Run
I stopped at the North part of Berrien County so I would have time to rest up while driving to Cass County after. I got off the expressway and found this little store, and parked my car there.
I was on a very small road that had access to homes on Lake Michigan. It was very exciting to think that I would see the lake soon, and maybe some outstanding homes.
This photo was one of the first homes I saw on the big lake. I didn’t realize that this would be the best look that I would get at the lake. Most homes were way down a long driveway with NO view of the Lake. So disappointing.
Today was a beautiful hot day, and this shot was at the top of the hill with the following spray-painted notes on the side of the road.

I ran south for a long time. I was lost in a book and didn’t realize that I had run most of my 5k without finding the place I should have turned around. When I looked at my phone, it said that I had already run 2.9 miles. So I turned around and finished the 5k, then walked the 2.7 miles back to the car. So bummed, I wish I was paying attention. This pic was on the walk back to my car.
I headed down to Indianapolis for a trade show for work, and I thought it would be great to knock a couple more counties off the list. July was utterly dead, not one county down that month, but June and May were both great. So above was my plan for this county (Berrien), and I was super tired from the drive. This path was well planned, and I don’t know what went wrong, but something did go off. I was lost in a story on my iPhone, and when I finally looked down after, I realized I was off the path I had 2.9 miles complete… I was super surprised and disappointed because that would mean I would need to run or walk back. This would make it a 10k. No problem doing a 10k, but I was already planning to run a second county right after this one. (Cass). So yes, I was super disappointed.
Driving past Grand Rapids this morning, it’s going to be a long drive.
